In our previous blog, we went over various styles you can achieve with holiday lights and a qualified lighting crew. However, even after you’ve finished garnishing your home with Christmas lights, you may feel like something’s missing. Though your house and trees are gorgeous, your lawn itself may still look bland.

However, it’s hard to choose outdoor decorations when you’re faced with such a huge selection. Whether you’re in the grocery store or hardware store, you’ll run into new figures you can put on your lawn. How should you choose?

Here, we’ll share a few ideas for adding some extra Christmas cheer to your front yard.

Wreaths and Bows

If outdoor figures are too much for your taste, you can create tasteful decor with a wreath and red velvet bows. Hang your favorite wreath on your front door, and use the bows to accent your home. Here are some great places to put bows:

  • On the handrails leading up to your porch
  • On your front gate
  • Around any columns at the front of your house
  • Almost anywhere that’s either centered or symmetrical

Create a Scene

If you want to add unique flair to your home, find outdoor figures that recreate a scene on your lawn. Many people opt for a nativity scene, but these decoration sets don’t need to be religious. If you’re struggling for an idea, try:

  • Santa with his reindeer: These figures often come in sets, making them a simple purchase.
  • Christmas in the forest: You’ve probably seen the conical tree figures strung with lights. Buy several of these, and then find Christmas-themed animal figures. Though you could stick with woodland creatures like squirrels and deer, you can find lawn ornaments of many other animals, like penguins, polar bears, hippos-and even dinosaurs. Choose your favorites and arrange them among the tree figures in your yard.
  • Scenes from the Nutcracker: Find two large nutcracker statues to guard your door and choose sugar plum fairy figurines for your lawn. This scene works best if there’s fresh snow on the ground. Feel free to be creative with this scene. They may not be part of the ballet, but candy cane statues leading to your front door can add to the holiday mood.

Use Your Favorite Movies

If you don’t want a traditional Christmas scene in front of your house, you can find fun lawn ornaments from many popular movies. This approach appeals to small children especially. Plus, if you can’t find any Christmas themed figures that fit your taste, you can just buy themed lawn ornaments and adorn them with inexpensive Santa hats from your local craft store.

Some ideas for movie-themed lawns:

  • Characters from Frozen, especially Olaf the snowman
  • Star Wars characters, many of which come in Christmas-themed figures
  • Star Wars characters, many of which come in Christmas-themed figures
  • The Polar Express-imagine having a small, working train circling around your house
  • Snoopy, as well as other Peanuts characters

Inflatable Decorations

If you like lawn decorations but hate the idea of storing dozens of statues and ornaments in your garage, consider inflatable decorations instead. Kids will especially enjoy watching characters come to life as you fill them with air, and you’ll have a much larger lawn figure than you could with solid statues. And when Christmas is over, inflatables store relatively easily, leaving you more room in your shed or attic.

If you’re worried that inflatable decorations don’t come with the same variety as regular lawn ornaments, think again. You can find popular characters like Mickey Mouse in addition to typical Christmas snowmen and Santas.

With Christmas lights and yard decorations, you’re ready to celebrate Christmas in style. Gather your family together, especially the kids, and ask them what themes they’d like to decorate with this year. Chances are, if you can imagine it, you can create it.
